If you have not noticed yet, Butler Traditional High School is currently hosting student teachers from the University of Louisville who are here to observe Butler teachers at work to improve their own practice while they complete their degree programs in education.

One of these scholars is Nat Taylor, who is currently shadowing Stephanie Barnes, English teacher. Taylor is studying to become a high school teacher.

When asked why she wanted to become a teacher, Taylor said, “I had a lot of great influential history professors, people that had their PhD in high school.”

The influence her past professors had on her impacted the career field she chose to pursue, following in the footsteps of those that made a difference in her life and going to school to study education, leading to her placement here at Butler.

Taylor highly praised her time at Butler: “It has been my favorite placement so far. I’ve really enjoyed it; you guys have been great.”

Specifically in regards to the work she has been doing with Barnes during her time here, Taylor said that Barnes “has been one of my favorite observation teachers I’ve had so far. Honestly, I wish I could be here next semester, too.”

Taylor plans on completing her degree in education and becoming a Social Studies teacher.

Be sure to say hi to her in the halls if you see her.
